In its Earth Lab, Six Senses Crans-Montana invites you to share an experience both responsible and memorable.
Launched in 2017, the Earth Lab embodies Six Senses' commitment to innovation in terms of sustainable development. Present in all the hotels, this playful Lab makes guests aware of environmental challenges, encourages ecological practices, and supports local communities through activities, workshops and lectures. At Six Senses Crans-Montana, as in each of the Group's properties, the Earth Lab makes the resort's impact visible by posting, for example, key data on its water and energy consumption.
How do you make your own compost? Practice lacto-fermentation? Or extract essential oils from plants? The Earth Lab invites you to adopt a more environmentally friendly approach by helping you to lead a more responsible everyday life. In keeping with the famous motto "Nothing is lost, everything is transformed", it also makes it a point of honor to upgrade resort waste in its workshops. In the Alchemy Bar, you can thus learn how to create beauty products from coffee grounds or make candles and soaps by upgrading frying oil from the kitchens in the Earth Lab. The most curious will be drawn by the "Bike Room" where they can enjoy experimenting with kinetic energy principles.
In each region where they exist, Six Senses properties finance social and environmental projects by handing over part of their revenue to a fund dedicated to sustainable development. In Crans-Montana, the resort allocates 0.5% of its annual turnover to the fund. Initiatives receiving support are varied and numerous. They include creating a fruit-tree seed bank in collaboration with a local horticulturalist, and training volunteers to protect flocks as part of a cohabitation project with wolves, run in partnership with the OPPAL ("Organisation Pour la Protection des Alpages").
